The mission of BLAST (Building Lasting Success Together) is to provide unique social opportunities for individuals to experience success in social, academic, and employment settings. We approach all of our learning moments through the lens of
The hallmark of BLAST is our Social Skills program: BLAST was founded in 1997 as a social skills intervention program for children who struggle to make and maintain friendships. We now offer group – based intervention programs for children ages 5 – 18 and young adults to age 24. These groups incorporate active games and activities along with discussion and process groups. Groups are funded by the California Regional Center system and by private pay. https://blastprograms.org/social-skills/
BLAST now also offers summer camp, holiday programs, adaptive skills and community integration.
Parents often ask “why send a child to BLAST?” At BLAST, participants feel safe, they feel respected, and they feel included. Participants are given a voice and a chance to better understand themselves and how they engage in the world. It gives them an opportunity to learn about how they can feel successful in social environments, including advocating for their needs, learning independence, expressing themselves, and joining in social situations.
